Changeling et al

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 8, 2009, 12:25 AM
Things are slowly getting settled in. There are some loose ends to tie up, but to be honest, I am doing that leisurely, so the video of the new place won't be for a bit. Feels great to catch my breath a while. Oh, and I found out that less than 1.5 minutes away is a super walmart. That rules so much ass. We got such an awesome location. It's such a quiet little street, and then you're just seconds away from all the traffic and stores.

Rob got Friday off, so to celebrate, we went and rented a lot of movies. One was Bedtime Story, which was very cute but I felt it was spoiled by all the cliche parts. I mean, they didn't just go for every movie cliche in history and call it quits. No, they went for every movie cliche and CLICHED THE FUCK OUT OF IT. I thought that sorta spoiled an otherwise good movie.

We rented Benjamin Button, but have not watched that yet. And last night, we watched Changeling, and OH MY GOD!!!! If ever there was a story worth telling, this is it. It's amazing how something that huge can happen and not that long ago, and yet almost no one has heard of it. I believe Walter and Christine Collins are people who deserve to be remembered for what they endured. God, I cannot imagine what Christine went through in her actual life. That was a VERY good movie. It was long, but there was not a single boring scene. Parts of it were very hard to watch, but it kept me on the edge of my seat, which is very unusual for a movie. I even felt my pulse start pounding in a couple of scenes.

After we watched it, we went to the wikipedia article on it to see just how much they kept true to life, because we all know "based on a true story" usually means "we heard something somewhere and got this idea, and then took all the liberties we wanted with it, so it's nothing like what actually inspired us but we can say it was based on a true story to get your attention" but they actually stuck pretty close to what was in the wiki article.

If you have not watched this movie yet, do it. This should never have been glossed over or forgotten. I'm glad it was made into a movie so that their story could be spread.

In other news, my Illustrator broke on my laptop, so I'm stuck working on my desktop with it until I can figure out why it went kaput on me lappy. I think it might have to do with Windows 7 (which actually kicks serious ass unlike Vista, which blew hard - but that is another journal for another time, my friends).

Also, lolwutfartfetish? No.

I saw the Changeling and not only was the story great, but Angie was superb as usual.

Benjamin Button for some reason I liked it. I don't know why..maybe because it was such a different movie. I'm not saying it was the BEST movie made but it was interesting to watch.

I recently saw Houndog with Dakota Fanning in it..it was a good movie but the ending sucked BIG TIME. She never beat the guy to a pulp. I sure as hell would've, and reported him too

It's awesome! They added a lot of little features that are great for everyday use, and that's where it really counts. Sure, Vista was flashy and handled some stuff the cool way, but for everyday usage, it was pretty darn frustrating. For example, when I need to rename a file, it not longer highlights the extension. I used to have to retype the whole thing out, like if I wanted to rename flowers1.jpg to flowers2.jpg, I'd have to type "flowers2.jpg" but now I just have to type "flowers2" and it knows I want to keep .jpg. :aww:

When I'm dragging files to be zipped, it pops up a little number that tells me how many files are about to be zipped, in case I miscounted. It also keeps the files I selected to zip selected after I zip, so I don't have to go back and manually reselct them (since I usually delete them after I'm done zipping).

I also love, love, LOVE that I can just hover my mouse over any window minimized in the taskbar to see a live thumbnail of it. Really great for checking on downloads! :D

Can you tell I'm excited about it? lol.

Angelina did a good job, didn't she? I noticed she had to do a lot of crying for that film. Man, I bet that was draining. I don't know if you have ever tried, but forcing yourself to cry is very hard work. And she had to do that a LOT for that movie! She is very versatile. In fact, my boyfriend did not even know who she was till the credits rolled, lol. He was like, "Wait, isn't that that girl from Tomb Raider?" "Yes." "What? She looks nothing like her!" I was like, "What do you mean? She looks exactly like her." lol. But he doesn't keep up on celebrities at all.

Yay! I'm happy that you guys are getting settled in ok. :)

I hate movies and games that are full of cliches. ._.'
I swear to god, the next time somebody recommends a "feel-good family comedy where the main character is a sassy but sensitive female who constantly gets into arguments with her headstrong male co-worker (Who ends up falling in love with said female lead at the end)" I'll go FRIGGING BONKERS!!!!

:iconragefaceplz: I can't stand romantic comedies. :P

I'll definitely look into Changeling.

I'm sorry that your Illustrator won't work on your lappy anymore.
I hope you can get it fixed.

And LOLWUT are you talking about fart fetish?

Oh, God, why do they always HAVE to have the romantic itnerest? There can't just be a movie like that without two people, who start out hating each other, falling in love.

Changeling is amazing! I would love to know how you like it when it's done. Even if it weren't based on a real story, it would be totally screwed up, but knowing this shit went down in real life makes it all the more mesmerizing!

:iconicameplz: You don't wanna know. Tell you what, ask =LovelyLocks about that fart fetish.

Does Windows 7 ask for "administrative permission" to do even the smallest task? :?
That's one thing that pisses me off about Vista, is that it pops up those little windows that say "Windows needs your permission to continue" for the simplest damn things!

COME ON VISTA, I JUST WANT TO CHANGE THE TIME ON MY CLOCK AND UPDATE MY ANTI-VIRUS!
It's not like I'm buggering about in the Windows system folder, randomly deleting things. :( I just want to update my anti-virus programs without having to click through all the popups.

I feel like Microsoft is trying to babysit me. :p

If W7 is that much better than vista in spite of the fact that it's only in beta now.... :iconexcitedplz::iconkermityayplz:

I know! You don't have to have "forced romance" to get the female butts in the seats.
WTF is UP with "women's entertainment"?
It's not like all women need romance in their movies. :p
Some of my favorite movies are B-level horror and suspense films.

I asked her.... I just hope that I don't regret doing so. :nirvana:

There are work-arounds to get around that in Vista, but you have to know where to poke and what to check and uncheck. I remember on my last laptop, my boyfriend had to spend a good 30 minutes just setting up all the preferences correctly so that I could use it without being interrupted every 5 seconds. u_u It does ask that, but only on the more important shit, like when you want to install new programs, and sometimes when you are moving shit to or from an important folder.

I really, really like Windows 7. My boyfriend got a Macbook Pro, and since Windows 7 came out, he has been running that instead of Mac OS X. He says he's not found much of a need to boot back into Mac, which says a lot!
