I think everyone has had that one friend, or perhaps acquaintance, that constantly dwells on negativity. I've known a few people like this in my lifetime, and I tend to eventually disconnect from them.
I'm talking about the kind of person who rarely expresses interest in anything other than their own problems and why their life sucks. The kind of person who never asks how you are, and responds with, "well..." and a myriad of unpleasant circumstances when you ask how they are. The kind of person who does nothing but complain about how bad they have it, and how unfair it is because no one else seems to have it as bad. The kind of person who has a new and different problem each time you talk to them. The kind of person who shoots down all your suggestions for improving their situation without even thinking about the advice you offered. The kind of person who manages to make everything you say take a negative turn. The kind of person who doesn't even realize that they do this.
It does get tiresome to constantly lend support or even just an empathetic ear. I have had to distance myself several times from people who were once good friends because of the spiraling negativity they continued to put into my life. After many years of trying to help these types and frustratingly banging my head against a wall, I have to give up and move on. I do not think these types want help. I'm baffled as to what they do want, though.
I largely believe life is what you make it, and if you surround yourself with good things and people, it will affect you for the better. Conversely, if you surround yourself in negativity or specifically filter for negative things, you're going to be living in a self-created hell. This is why it is crucial to distance oneself from such people after it is obvious they are not going to change their mindset.
On a happy note, who is looking forward to Halloween? It's one of my absolute favorite holidays. I can't wait! I LOVE carving pumpkins. Sometimes, I even make my own carving patterns.

My birthday! Okay, so it's not a holiday, but it's still my favorite.
A holiday not listed here
For me, it's a toss-up between Halloween and Christmas. I love them both pretty equally. I guess for now, I will choose Halloween because it's closer.

Here is an interesting question for you...
Even if you're not an artist, or you don't take commissions, imagine for a moment that you are and you do.
If you were to accept a commission from someone and they were directing you to draw a substandard piece, what would you do? Maybe they were insistent that you change part of the anatomy that is correct to something that is incorrect (for example, perhaps they are insistent that one of the legs would look better turned or bent in a direction a leg just can't bend, or something similar that isn't a stylistic thing, but an anatomical impossibility.)
In short, it is a request that would make the drawing look bad and incorrect, but the comm
My Halloween Story
When I was a kid, I used to love Halloween. It used to be one of my absolute favorite holidays, and I'll tell you why: For a week at least before the actual day, TV stations would play loads of classic '80s horror movies like Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Jason, and so forth. We would all tell each other scary stories during camp-outs at night, and put on spectacular Halloween celebrations at school.
We would turn the stage in our elementary school cafeteria into a mini-haunted house, the "rooms" separated by curtains. Kids were invited to stick their hands into boxes with labels like "eyeballs" that were really just a
Who are you people?
So now that deviantART has let people change their usernames, I no longer recognize from whom half the art I get in my inbox comes. I can't keep all these name changes straight. When I recognized the name, I knew the personality behind the image. Now, they could be anyone... ◕n◕
Calling All Gamers!
Wow, where have I been? My last journal was months ago. Well, since Guild Wars 2* came out, my life has been a bit of a blur. Days have faded into nights, and nights, into day. I'm not even sure what year it is any more, to be honest.
However, all these games I've been playing lately have got me thinking. In many games, you can name your character whatever you want, but the people of the realm address you by a common title, such as "hero." In Dragon Age: Origins, you were "The Grey Warden." In Mass Effect, you were "Commander Shepard." On the other hand, I have played a couple of games before (now these are very

O...m....g..... I cannot stand these people! But it's funny, because despite saying that, we are incredibly tolerant of these people. Probably too tolerant. Honestly! How hard could life be?? I wonder if they just get into the habit of complaining... and dont even think about what they're saying. Who knows what it could be. Whatever it is, it isnt fun for anybody.
I have to say, I LOVE you line "life is what you make it". I mean... maybe everything can be fine and dandy but then you get hit by a bus, but that wasn't your fault, and all the time leading up to the accident would have been brilliant days~!
So ya really gotta get out there and enjoy life! :3
